Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Nancy Update: Key Detail Left Her ‘Even More Vulnerable’ to Attack, Says Ex-FBI Agent

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing as the case enters Week 6—and a former FBI agent recently claimed that a key detail left the 84-year-old “even more vulnerable” to an attack.

During a Sunday, March 8 episode of Brian Entin Investigates, the NewsNation investigative reporter chatted with two ex-FBI special agents, Maureen O’Connell and Jim Clemente.“I think she also had hearing issues and pretty powerful hearing aids that she probably removed at night,” he pointed out. “Which makes her even more vulnerable.”

O’Connell also speculated, “I think also, the altercation, quote unquote, could have happened if she obviously had her hearing aids out, and they [the suspects] were giving her commands, and she could respond. Because she didn’t know what they were saying.”

She added, “It’s so sad.”

A different device, Nancy’s pacemaker, was a major piece of the puzzle in helping investigators determine an initial timeline of Nancy’s kidnapping. It stopped syncing with her Apple Watch—which was left behind at her home—at roughly 2 a.m. on Feb. 1. This suggested the approximate time she was forcefully taken from her residence.

As the search for Nancy continues into Week 6, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos recently ruled out a potential new piece of evidence. Meanwhile, Savannah, her husband, and their son were spotted during a rare public appearance days after the journalist visited the Today studio for the first time since Nancy went missing.
